The Compliance & HIPAA Privacy Officer's combined system-wide oversight responsibilities for corporate compliance, including oversight and monitoring the adoption, implementation, and maintenance of the compliance program and HIPAA privacy compliance, fosters a streamlined system of communication with regards to identification of risk areas, compliance and quality improvement opportunities, and identification of training and process improvement needed to achieve or maintain quality and compliant services throughout the Catholic Charities System.

As the Compliance & HIPAA Privacy Officer , you will play a pivotal role in individuals' lives, making a significant impact through:

    • Draft and implement, as approved by the BOT Corporate Compliance Committee, an annual Corporate Compliance Work Plan, that outlines the proposed strategies and tasks that address organizational compliance expectations, and include the regulatory requirements outlined in 18NYCRR Part 521.
    • Develop, implement, and oversee Corporate Compliance Plan, Code of Conduct, and related Standards and Procedures in accordance with organizational needs, and 18NYCRR Part 521; to include annual review, prompt revision based on organizational experience, changes to regulation, policy, and/or applicable laws.
    • Oversee and independently act on matters related to the compliance program, including compliance related investigations in all agencies of Catholic Charities, up to and including self-disclosures to the NYS Office of Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) and/or other state or federal oversight agencies as required;
    • Liaison with OMIG and/or other state or federal oversight agencies in compliance related matters, up to and including compliance related investigations and self-disclosures;
    • The Privacy Officer shall be accountable for privacy policies and procedures and for ensuring compliance with Federal and State privacy laws
      1. Responsible for developing, implementing and managing policies regarding privacy
      2. Responsible for promptly revising policies and procedures in order to:
        1. Comply with changes of the law, including the standards, requirements, and implementation specifications, or
        2. Change a privacy practice that is stated in the Notice of Privacy Practices
      3. Responsible for making any other changes to policies and procedures at any time, provided that the changes are documented and implemented in accordance with the regulation
    • Develop and ensure efficient processes for documenting and retaining compliance and HIPAA privacy related initiatives, activities, and records in accordance with agency record retention standard procedures, and as required by 18NYCRR part 521.

Compliance & HIPAA Privacy Officer Minimum Salary: $75,000

Compliance & HIPAA Privacy Officer Maximum Salary: $80,000

Compliance & HIPAA Privacy Officer Schedule: Monday - Friday (35 hours/week)

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in a Human Service Field or Business Administration/Management
      • With 8 or more years of combined program evaluation, quality improvement and corporate compliance experience at a director level or equivalent position
    • Master's degree in Human Services or Business Administration/Management
      • With 5 or more years of combined program evaluation, quality improvement and corporate compliance experience at a director level or equivalent position
  • Experience:
    • 5 or more years working with a diverse population
  • Department Specific:
    • Ability to present information to appropriate levels of employees at all levels of the organization
    • Reputation for integrity and willingness to change higher levels of management on issues arising through compliance programs
    • Unbiased approach to situations
    • Understanding of government requirements/expectations for human service programs
